HCL LAPTOP PROBLEMS AND ITS SOLUTIONS

HCL laptop Audio Jack Problem

Go to the control panel, then to hardware and sound, then sound. You should see something called manage audio devices. Plug in your headphones and see if they show up.
If they don't, then either your divers(these things will tell your computer what kind of hardware it has and how to use it) are missing or the the headphone jack itself has failed. Lets say it is in fact your drivers that are missing, then all you need to do is either use windows update(it will detect many of your missing drivers) or go to the manufacturers website and look for them there(usually they will have a tab somewhere on the home page that will say something about support or downloads). And also try different headphones, those could have messed up as well.

Now lets say that you do see the headphones show up as an audio device. Then all you need to do is set them as the default and that should fix your problem. Though I will say that I currently have a problem with switching between the two. Once I start a program such as media player, it will stick with the current default audio device.

HCL laptop Battery Not Charging

If your HCL laptop works fine while plugged in but stops working while unplugged it's likely that either your HCL laptop battery is bad or your HCL laptop is not charging the battery properly.

HCL laptop Bios Password issue

A HCL laptop BIOS password is more secure than a traditional desktop to help protect the data if it was stolen. If you are the original owner of the HCL laptop, we highly recommend contacting the manufacturer of the HCL laptop. Companies such as HCL, Lenovo, and Toshiba can reset the password if you are the original owner using the Service Tag, disk, or give you exact steps for your HCL laptop

HCL laptop blue screen and os problem

Alternatively referred to as a bluescreen or bugcheck in Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, and XP, BSoD is short for Blue Screen of Death and is a full blue screen error message generated by Microsoft Windows operating systems. The blue screen is most commonly encountered and associated with a computer running Microsoft Windows. However, other operating systems such as the HCL Macintosh may also get a blank blue screen, which is also referred to as a BSOD. HCL computers that have a blank blue screen indicate that the hard drive is bad in that computer.

HCL laptop dim display issue

When the external AC power supply is unplugged from a notebook, the LCD display will dim to conserve on battery power. During times of heavy battery power operation; such as during the startup or boot process, the display may be very dim or barely readable.
The Lid Actuator switch is available on some models. It is a small button or switch located above the keyboard near the hinge for the LCD. Pressing this switch when the computer is on may turn the notebook display off, or it may cause the notebook to enter a different power state.
Press the switch two to three times while observing the display. If the display does not return to normal brightness when the switch is released, the switch may be sticking and need to be repaired.

HCL laptop driver problem

Drivers are a type of software that informs your operating system how to interact with specific hardware components, such as a printer or monitor. If you install a new hardware component on your HCL laptop, it might not work properly if you have not installed the latest version of the driver software. Use the operating system's update feature to locate and install the correct driver.

HCL laptop dvd drive problem

In some instances your operating system might not be able to automatically locate the latest device driver. Navigate to the computer manufacturer's website or a third-party driver location website.
Click the "Drivers" option, then locate the most recent driver for your specific hardware component.

HCL laptop graphics card problem

In fact, in most of these cases, the problem is with the solder connection of the graphics card mounted on the motherboard. some people suggest to use a heat gun to heat the graphics card and reestablish soldering (quite unmanageable for me as i have no equipments)
The blanket method works because it overheats the GPU (and the whole board which is not really a good idea) and in turn re-balls the solder joints under the GPU this method is not recommended.
The heat gun method does the same thing but the main danger is overheating nearby components. Done correctly this works and has so far been effective as long as you insulate the heat using tin foil (aluminum foil)
The professional way to correct this problem is typically done by using hot air or infrared re-balling techniques where you remove the GPU, clean the old solder from it and re-ball the small GPU points and re-attach to the main board.

HCL laptop hard drive problem

Hard disk failures are the most common computer hardware problems. And HCL laptop hard disks fail more often than desktop HDs. If you knock hard or drop your HCL laptop even a few inches while it’s working, you may damage the HD.
The first case from above (corrupted filesystem) is by far the most common. There are several ways of diagnosing and fixing the corrupted/missing files. If this was just a software problem, the hard disk will continue to work properly. However keep in mind that this may also be a signs of deterioration and backup daily!
Also the hard disk will need some preventive maintenance. Check it for errors every few days or at least every week. To do that you must be logged in an admin account, then right-click the “C” drive in “My Computer”, select “Properties”, then “Tools”, then click on the “Check Now” button. Select both boxes and click on “Start”. Windows will tell you that the hard disk cannot be checked now but you can schedule a check for the next restart. Click “OK” and restart the HCL laptop. The check will take from about 30-40 min. to over 2 hours, so do it when you’re not planning to use the HCL laptop for some time.

HCL laptop lcd damage problem

The HCL laptop appears to start as usual but the screen is black, if you move it, it turns on and works properly. Failed cable. The HCL laptop appears to start as usual but the screen is very dark, although it changes colour a little and you can see a very feint image. Failed inverter or cable 90%/10%. Immediately after starting the screen has dark pink/red tint and turns dark after a few seconds. Failed backlight. The screen flickers a few times but then turns dark, if you move it or tap it lightly on the sides, it flickers again. Failed cable or LCD 50%/50%. Screen is either black or white (no picture) and external monitor works. Failed cable or LCD 30%/70%. There are stripes on the screen (either vertical or horizontal) that change when you move the screen or tap it lightly on the sides. Failed cable or LCD 10%/90%. In all above cases, if you plug in an external monitor, everything shows fine on it (you have to plug it in before starting the HCL laptop and may need to press the “Fn” key together with one of the “F1″ – “F10″ keys to make the HCL laptop recognize the external monitor).

HCL laptop Motherboard problem

A motherboard failure on a HCL laptop that is out of warranty would usually mean that… it’s time for a new HCL laptop. The price of a new motherboard is usually higher than the current value of the HCL laptop.
Plug in the power adaptor and try to start the HCL laptop.
Nothing happens.
The “ON” light comes on, the fan spins, but nothing on the screen (black) and you can’t hear the HD working after 10-15 sec.
The “ON” light comes on, the fan spins, but after a few seconds the light goes off.
After pressing the “ON” button the screen stays black and you can hear a quiet high-pitched sound coming from the HCL laptop.

But now i have a problem when i connect anything in the usb slot frod pcmcia card nothing happens it seems like the pcmcia card dosen't get enough power from notebook's motherboard. Can this pcmcia card to work with power from notebook and not with an external power supply source.

HCL laptop Processor issue

Take heart from the fact that even though you may think your processor is damaged, chances are it is not. Most often, symptoms you think indicate CPU damage relate to issues that have nothing to do with your processor. Before taking steps to diagnose problems, think about whether two major causes of processor damage—electrical problems such as a power surge or outage, or liquid in your computer—have occurred in the recent past. Then remove the case cover to expose computer innards, get your user manual and proceed to figuring out if your processor is indeed damaged.
Plug your computer into an electrical outlet and turn it on. If electrical connections work and you can hear and see the CPU fan running but the computer will not boot, remove and reseat your processor to make sure its connections are tight. Although you should refer to your user manual for specific directions, most often this involves unclipping and removing the fan, and then unlatching and removing the processor.

Inspect the CPU fan to make sure it is running and if necessary replace the fan. Fan failure causes your CPU to overheat and your computer to randomly power down, and can result in permanent processor damage. If the fan is bad and replacing it does not solve the problem, your processor most likely has incurred permanent damage

HCL laptop ram problem

Bad RAM is somehow harder to diagnose as similar symptoms may be caused by software problems, other hardware problems or even motherboard failure. However if you experience any of these symptoms, you should check for bad RAM before attempting any other troubleshooting.

  • Windows doesn’t start showing different error messages each time.
  • Windows crashes (blue screen) or freezes frequently.
  • Windows crashes as soon as you try to start a program.
  • Unexplained random crashes and freezes without error messages.

HCL laptop serial port problem

That serial cable will place you into a command-line environment from which the troublesome device (typically a switch or router) can be told to forget every setting that may have caused the problem. For those who haven’t yet experienced this type of management, I need to point out that the first time around almost everyone bricks the device they’re controlling, then panics on discovering the layered nature of the command line: there’s not only a layer that lets you zap all passwords and configurations, but an even lower level at which you can overwrite the firmware, boot from newer or older versions, and render your device useless

HCL laptop touch pad problem

Some USB and PS/2 devices, especially any USB input device (including a computer mouse) can disable the touchpad. As a troubleshooting step turn off the computer, disconnect all USB devices, and then start the computer again to make sure no other device is disabling the touchpad. If this fixes your problem, but the touchpad is disabled again the next time you connect the device check your touchpad software settings for a setting that can prevent this from happening.

HCL laptop Usb port problem

USB support is built into the chipset driver and Windows. You can try reloading the chipset driver for your system first - if that doesn't work, then take the system back to its factory install - and if that doesn't work, you know you've a hardware problem and will need a system board.
The first thing that you want to do is to see if the USB port is physically damaged. A simple test is to put your USB Flash Drive into the port and see if it wiggles up and down really easily. Be gentle doing this! You don’t want to create a hardware problem if you don’t already have one. If you’re not sure how sturdy the USB port should be, do the same thing in a port that you know works and compare the two. If it is definitely loose, you’ll probably want to move right to the end of this article where we talk about dealing with USB port hardware issues. If not, follow the steps we have here.

HCL laptop vga problem

Since the normal video output is fine to the internal LCD, It's weird that the HCL laptops VGA ports, the docking stations VGA port and the HCL laptops standard port would both not work in the same way (with the docking station using another port on the bottom of the HCL laptop) both detects the display.
So just to rule it out, I am sure you have already done this but just to be sure, check everything on the external screen before tackling the HCL laptop. It sounds like, based on the question the external monitor might have went to lunch even thou the HCL laptop can sense it's there.
You can also start the HCL laptop with a bootable CD with the HCL laptop fully docked. Something like Knoppix or BartPE, even with something like that something should show up on the external monitor while docked and should rule out anything hardware based if it works.

HCL laptop web cam problem

Sometimes the HCL laptop built-in webcam does not work. Most likely, it is not a hardware problem unless the built-in camera is broken. With most HCL laptop computers, it is a problem with the webcam configuration or a device driver problem. To solve HCL laptop built-in webcam configuration problem, check the settings of the webcam. If it is a HCL laptop built-in webcam device driver problem, download the latest webcam drivers from the internet and install the new device drivers. First, uninstall the older device drivers and then install the latest device drivers.

HCL laptop wireless problem

If the issue occurs on your home network, log in to the wireless router's administration page (directions will be in your manual; most router's admin sites are something like http://192.168.2.1). From the main page or in a separate "network status" section, check if your Internet connection is actually up. You can also go to the router itself and look at the status indicator lights -- there should be a blinking or steady light for the Internet connection. If your Internet connection is down, uplug the modem and the router, wait a few minutes, and plug them back in. If this doesn't refresh your service, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for assistance, since the problem is likely on their end.
